Pattern is here for you.

Wondering if Pattern is the right fit? Let’s dig in.

First things first.

Pattern is for when you need strategies or support for the specific needs of your gifted, intense, highly sensitive, and/or twice-exceptional child. Or yourself :)

What we don’t do:

We do not provide clinical support. If you have mental health concerns that are more pressing or have concerns related to past trauma, we recommend you seek therapeutic support from a therapist knowledgeable in the needs of twice-exceptional children.

Coaching Services

This is the heart and soul of our work: the nitty-gritty support for complex humans.

Coaching services focus on the specific needs of the individual child. Often, we address:

  • Existential and big questions related to work, play, and relationships

  • Encouragement around special interests

  • Navigating a world designed by and for neurotypical brains

  • Digging into patterns of behavior that shape experiences

  • Educating loved ones on needs and joys

Advocacy

Our work on student advocacy is to help support neurocomplex individuals in the school or work settings. This includes robust reviews of special education evaluations, individualized education plans (IEPs), and recommendations for parents, guardians, and schools on how to best support the individual.

As a former special education teacher and school psychologist, I know that our school systems are often under-resourced and unable to provide for every specific need of a child; that being said, we can work together to find the best supports available for your child so they can feel challenged and safe in their communities.

The details:

  • I will review any previous evaluation results and current IEPs

  • I will complete additional non-normed assessments and write a detailed summary of your child’s strengths and areas of disability/needs.

  • I will recommend services, accommodations, and modifications. While these are nonbinding recommendations, it allows schools to consider alternative ways to support your child.

  • For an additional fee, I can also work with your child’s teachers as a member of the child’s team and attend meetings to advocate for their individual needs.

Consultation

Our work in consultation focuses on institutions themselves: schools, districts, organizations, and other agencies serving gifted, autistic, and otherwise neurocomplex youth. Interested? Contact us for more details on how we can team with you!

Workshops

Are you a school, organization, or other group interested in learning more about supporting the needs of neurodiverse children in our community? I can provide tailored workshops and professional development opportunities focused on the following:

  • The specific needs of gifted & talented children in schools

  • The benefits of embracing a neurodiverse workforce

  • The challenges often overlooked in twice-exceptional students

  • … and many more. Contact me to learn more!

Let’s talk language.
